Here we are again, crafters! It’s lockdown part three and many of us are finding the extended time indoors increasingly difficult. We know many of you, like us, are trying to juggle home schooling, working and adulting and yep, it’s hard. Of course we are firm believers in the power of craft and we know many of you knit and crochet to help relieve anxiety and stress. Crafting should definitely be a part of your self care routine so here are seven fantastic, mindful projects for you to try. Even if you only have time to work a row or two in a day, take some time for yourself, get your hook out, breathe, notice every stitch and feel your troubles start to melt away.
1. Granny triangles
Once you’ve got the hang of a granny square pattern, there’s no stopping! Our triangles are even more addictive and you can make them into bunting, sew them together into cushion covers or shove them in the bottom of your craft bag until you find a use for them, you decide! 2. Simple blanket
This repetitive, mindful design is just the thing for entering into a mindful state after a hard day of homeschooling and/or working from home! Delve into your stash, pick some gorgeous calm colours and enjoy snuggling under your ever-growing project. Download the FREE pattern here
3. Mini butterflies
Spring might be a few more weeks away, so why not create some bright, beautiful butterflies for inside instead? You could applique them onto cushions or other soft furnishings, or just dot them around your home for a pop of colour. You could even pop them in an envelope and post them to a friend to let them know you’re thinking of them. Download the FREE pattern here
4. Learn new stitches
Take your mind off the pandemic by learning something new! Our simple swatches will show you how to create primrose stitch for a gorgeous shell effect, while the waistcoat (knit) stitch looks as though it has been worked on needles and star stitch looks like…er stars! 5. Make-up bag
This gorgeous repetitive pattern is an ideal one for mindfulness. If you aren’t fussed about changing colour just do it in one shade rather than stripes. It’s mainly created with half trebles and whips up so quickly you’ll soon be making more make-up bags that you can shake a mascara at! We also think these sweet bags are perfect for storing your craft tools and crochet notions. Download the FREE pattern here
6. Water bottle holder
While out taking your daily exercise it’s a good idea to stay hydrated and this straightforward pattern, worked in the round is super easy to whip up. This is a great stashbuster and can be adjusted to fit your drinks bottle too. You could even personalise it to ensure no-one else in the family decides to “borrow” yours!
