Always fancied your hand at writing fiction but never had the confidence to give it a go? Well, now’s your chance to enter our annual short story competition – where your tale could be published in our magazine! It’s a great chance to be creative, even if it doesn’t involve yarn, needles or a hook.
To enter, simply choose an opening sentence, write your 1000 word tale and submit it here.
HOW TO ENTER
1) Choose a sentence
A) I took a deep breath and gripped my bag tightly, before pushing open the door to the knitting group.
B) The man opposite pulled a pair of needles and chunky navy blue yarn from a weathered satchel.
C) She gazed up at the colourful shelves of stacked yarn, when she heard an unexpected voice behind her.
2) Write a 1000 word story
If you’re new to writing, these tips may come in handy…
Make a plan. Jot down ten points to guide you as you write.
Believe in it. Your imagination will help you plot the characters.
Enjoy yourself! If you have fun then it is sure to show in the story.
